Oak Ridge TN 37830-5541 Substitute HS teacher Married 2 Immaculate Conc. and Fall Creek August 19, 2017 In February of my senior year an IHS counselor convinced me to go to college. I received an associate degree in chemistry from Erie Tech in Buffalo in 1962. Still not knowing what I wanted to do I joined the Navy in November 1962. Fortunately for me they had a nuclear power program for submarines that turned out to be everything I wanted. As a reactor operator my training enabled me to become a control room operator at Maine Yankee Atomic Power Plant. Later, at St. Lucie Atomic Power Plant, I joined the operator training department as an instructor teaching how to operate nuclear power plants. I left Florida in 1977 to work at various nuclear utilities teaching operations until 1979 when I joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as an instructor for Westinghouse and Combustion Engineering PWRs (Pressurized Water Reactor) in Chattanooga, TN. After a short time at the NRC I went to TVA to train Westinghouse future operators. I met my wife Janet there who was a Plant Chemist trainee. We married in 1983 and have been together ever since. We started contracting in 1986, moving every year to new areas of the U.S. while raising two children, Matthew and Rachel. Janet home schooled them during this time until we settled down again in Hartsville, SC in 1992. I retired after 13 years with Progress Energy in 2005. With the kids still in college I took another contract job a short distance from home at Catawba Nuclear Plant near Rock Hill, SC in 2006. That contract lasted till 2013 when I retired again. Meanwhile we moved to Oak Ridge, TN in 2010 where we still live. I started substitute teaching at a local high school which has become almost a full time job but very enjoyable. It may be years before I retire from this one.

Columbia SC 29229 Retired RN/Homemaker Widowed 2
It's great to have our own website. I've not been in touch with very many of our class. I graduated from Wilson Mem Hosp School of Nursing in Johnson City in 1963 and worked at TCMH until I left NY in '64 for Texas and ended up in Green Bay, WI in 1967, married to Ivan, a Michigan farmboy I met in El Paso in 1966. He was serving his 2 years as a draftee in the Army, while I was working as an RN at Wm Beaumont Gen Hosp, a military hospital. We lived in Green Bay area for 19 years adopting 2 boys Jeff and Dave. I was busy being a mom, RN and SS teacher. Our spare time took us camping from WI to NY as well as traveling in England, Scotland, Mexico, Jamaica, Canada. In the US we visited MN, CA, AZ, TX, GA, FL, TN, IN, OH, PA, NJ and places en route. We traveled through the southern Great Lakes area between Green Bay and Ithaca then to Chenango Forks and Greene after my parents retired. In 1986 we moved to Woodridge, IL near Chicago and lived there until 2005. I kept up nursing until I retired 1 1/2 years after Ivan died. At that time. I moved to Hinesville, GA to be near my niece while her husband was in Iraq, again and stayed in the south. In May 2006 we relocated to Columbia, SC and where I plan to stay for the time being. Son Jeff is here with me, Dave in still in Woodridge working out of Chicago. I'm very busy being a homemaker, Aunt, and a Deaconess at my church. I have 3 cats and 2 baby kittens and several outside cats and kittens to watch over. I have family in all four corners of the US and plan to visit several this summer as well as family and friends in between. I'm a healthy cancer survivor. God bless all my classmates. Hope to see you in FL in the fall. Send Marilyn a MessageSend Marilyn a Message

Alpine WY 83128 Hotel Sales-Flying Saddle Resort Married 4 I went from the "Little Red" up the hill to the "Big Red" graduating in 1964 with BS in science education. I met my husband Phil while working for the Agronomy Dept and we were married my senior year. Between the births of our four children, I taught science and substituted anything, including kindergarten and home ec. Phil changed careers after daughter #3 was born in 1968 becoming a banker. We relocated for his job several times but stayed in NY State until 1993 when we moved to Jackson Hole, WY. For a gal who loved horses, cattle and the Wild West, this was a dream come true. I got to work some fantastic jobs including driving team for one of the chuck wagon suppers in Jackson. Phil and I bought a truck and a slide-in camper, 2 horses and a trailer and we were off every week-end exploring this beautiful State. I became interested in the hospitality industry and settled into sales and marketing at a high-end hotel in Jackson where I worked 8 years. The past two years, I worked as a staff assistant for US Senator Mike Enzi and thAT was my dream job for sure. Had to leave that job due to cancer invading my life and turning it upside down for a year. I'm back on track again now and working part-time for a hotel near our home in Alpine, WY. Can't wait to see everyone in Florida in November!!
I'm also grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 1. Married 47 years to the same man, my best friend, Phil. I enjoy hiking, reading, riding my horses, walking my dog and, most of all, spending time with my husband and family!

Bryson City NC 28713 retired Married 3 Immaculate Conception I was surprised to receive the information on the 50th IHS reunion and did go on line and look at some of the information and read some of the bios. It seems that we all have gotten OLD(ER). And I must admit that I am occasionally amazed when I look in the mirror and find a white haired senior citizen, who looks something like my aunt, staring back at me.

I attended Cornell University and SUNY Cortland. I taught Science in schools in New York State and Texas and got a MS in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin and my CPA license. I worked for the Government for 21 years and am now happily retired. My husband of 46 years, Steve, and I have three children and four grandchildren, each and everyone of them outstanding in all respects.
Over the years we have lived in several different places but finally retired to a house we built in the “middle of nowhere” in the Appalachian Mountains. We have projects enough to last two life-times and are never bored; waking up each day feeling happy and blessed to be able to do what we want to do, when we want to do it. We garden, landscape, build rock walls, read, travel and take naps. It’s all good.
I will be unable to attend the 50th reunion of the class of 1960 but send hellos to all who do

Harlingen TX 78552 retired Married 2 South Hill, Central I attended Swarthmore College, Cornell Univeristy (AB Chemistry) and SUNY Upstate Med (MD 1968). After postgraduate training in NYC and Cooperstown, and two years in the Air Force (England, East Anglia), I moved to Texas. My professional work was initially in Pulmonary Disease and Internal Medicine. From 1991 until my retirement in April 2010, I practiced general internal at VA Outpatient Clinics in McAllen, TX and Harlingen, TX. I am planning to do some VA locum tenens work in the near future.
My wife Mayra and I married in 1984. We have two children, Nicole a 22 yr old college student in San Antonio and Joshua an 18 yr old special needs high school senior with autism who is at home with us.
We enjoy the outdoors--Colorado in the summer and the Texas beach--South Padre Island. We have a cabin in the mountains in Panama where we hope to spend more time. The last six months have been spent trying to adjust to retirement and get a lot of things done that I have let slide. (I found a 1960 IHS Annual while clearing out a storage unit last week!) I spent a month (Sept to Oct 2010) in Central America as a volunteer MD with Continuing Promise 10-a joint project with the US Navy and several Non Gov Orgs (I was with Project Hope.) I think I have spent too much of my time working and been tied to my career. I hope to spend more time now with family and friends. I am looking forward to the reunion next week, and I am really appreciate the efforts of those who have organized it.

Kent WA 98042-6648 Retired Mainframe System Programmer Married 2 West Hill There is a newspaper clipping on this web site that asks “Where Are June Graduates?”. I believe that I was the lone one that was tallied as “Traveling”. I left Ithaca July 5th with $80 and my 54 Ford convertible to work my way to California. I arrived at my destination late November with lots of “growing up” under my belt. I started working for the company that was associated with the farm I grew up on. I enrolled in a JR College and took courses in agribusiness, hoping to stay in the field.

After a number of years getting student deferments, I gave up and enlisted in the Army. I ended up in finance and spent my working time at Ft Lewis, WA with a year in Vietnam. While in WA I met my wife (to be) at a USO dance and we married after my enlistment ended in 1969. We moved to San Jose, CA where my wife taught school and I began a new career in bank operations after a training period. We purchased a house and brought two children into this world. After seven years managing staff, I learned I couldn't do the delegation one needs to do as a manager. I was a “hands on” person.

I left banking and went to trade school learning a new trade – computer programming. I really loved it and it was really “hands on”. After graduating I was hired by an insurance company writing “quick and dirty” one-of programs that really expanded my knowledge. After a couple of years I had the opportunity to be trained in system programming which I took.

In early 1980, we moved back to Washington to be closer to family. I started working for an aerospace company in support of their mainframe computers while Patsy went back to (trade) school to learn programming. I stayed with system computing for almost 20 years and retired in 2000.

I have had three careers in my life and when I retired, I retired. Now I do volunteer work at Church (financial secretary), yard work at home, Church and at the neighbors as needed. We try to take a cruise each year. A few years back, I became the focal for a group for about 170 data center retirees from my employer. Our two children are doing well. Our daughter, Gina, is located in Denver and our son, Jim, is here in Seattle. No grandchildren and do not see any in the future.
